Dr. Shaheen Parveen joined the University of Pennsylvania in July, 2009. She will be teaching three levels of Hindi. Prior to this, she taught Hindi-Urdu at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Columbia University. In summer 2003, Dr. Parveen taught intensive second- year Hindi at the South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI) in Madison, Wisconsin.
Prior to teaching Hindi-Urdu, Dr.Parveen taught Social Studies in Early Childhood program at Kingsborough Community College in New York. Her interest is in developing lesson plans on a variety of topics. Her Ph.D. research is on the retention of literacy among adults.
