Chip Bagnall

Department Administrator

BA - History, Colorado College

Chip Bagnall comes to us from Chicago and Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine where he served as the Program Assistant for the Center for Health Services and Outcomes Research for nearly 6 years. He is steeped in higher education administration, specifically financial processes, grant maintenance, and day-to-day operations. Chip moved with his wife, Jenny, to the Philadelphia area mid-pandemic and is thrilled to be tasked as the new Department Administrator for the Department of South Asia Studies at Penn – and finally able to put some roots down in the Philly area.

Graduating from Colorado College with a BA in History, he then pursued improvisational comedy, writing, and acting professionally for nearly 10 years while in Chicago, performing at the likes of iO Theater, Annoyance Theater, and The Second City Conservatory. It’s a tough industry, so the time has come to call it a hobby and foster a career in higher education admin. He strongly believes in building lasting relationships and open communication across the academic landscape as a best practice, always eager to facilitate the smooth running of an academic department, namely the Department of South Asia Studies.
