South Asia Studies2016 Summer Funding & Briton Martin Fellowship for Dissertation Completion for 2016-2017
We are now accepting summer research funding requests for SAST graduate students*.
We are also accepting applications for Briton Martin Funding for the purpose of completing your dissertation by May 2016.
Send your proposals to me via email with the requested information detailed below.
There is no set amount you should request, and if you are a PhD student already receiving summer funds you must justify why you need these additional funds.
We have not asked for letters of recommendation, but this is subject to change.
If you are waiting to hear about outside funding you’ve applied for, include this in your proposal.
*NOTE for MA students: MA students in their first year ONLY may apply.
2016 Summer Funding
Please submit the following:
· Proposal (not more than one or two pages) of why you are requesting funding, what the funding will be used for, if you have applied for or will receive any other funding for this time
· Detailed budget
Note: You cannot have any incompletes on your transcript to apply for this funding. For students who already have Ben Franklin summer funding, if you apply for this additional SAST funding, you will have to justify why you need both and your budget must reflect this.

2016-2017 Briton Martin Fellowship(for dissertation completion)
This fellowship may be requested for ½ year or one full year of funding which includes tuition, fees, health insurance and stipend.
Please submit:
· Dissertation Progress report (this can be the report you turned in for 2015 with any updates/changes including detailed plans for the coming year)
· Budget
You must have:
· passed your exams
· no Ben Franklin funding left
If you have one semester left of Ben Franklin, you may apply for the Briton Martin for the Spring 2017 semester.
