Language certificate

Undergraduates in the Department of South Asia Studies, may choose to pursue a Language Certificate in Gujarati, Hindi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, or Urdu. The Language Certificate is intended to encourage advanced language study in topics such as literature, culture, and media. Students who wish to obtain a Language Certificate in a South Asian language should apply to the SAST Undergraduate Chair. The minimum criteria for completion of the requirement for a Language Certificate are: Completion of two CU's in advanced-level topics courses taught in the target language. Study abroad courses (AIIS advanced language courses) or advanced summer courses (SASLI) may be used toward the completion of these courses, subject to departmental approval. Minimum of B+ average in the two courses. Completion of the Certificate will be noted on the student's transcript. The Certificate will be awarded at the time of graduation.
