C. U. in India students send greetings from the wondrous Taj Mahal in Agra

The students currently enrolled in the Gender, Development and Empowerment class have been observing how theory from the classroom connects to the real life experiences of women --the issues they manage and how they secure their rights. The students have also been learning about how women organize and their role in thought leadership and public campaigns, and how non-profit groups facilitate this.  Stay tuned -- we will have more news about the students' time in India and how this has influenced their perspectives and honed their research topics.

While in India the students spent a week in Kolkata and Delhi, and from here the group took an excursion to the wondrous Taj Mahal in Agra.  The photograph shows three of our students.  Taj Mahal, the seventeenth century mausoleum is one of the most visited sites of India and was built for the Mughal ruler Shah Jahan’s wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died tragically and at a young age.
