Bio
I am a first year Phd student in the Department of South Asia Studies. My research interests revolve primarily around caste, religion, conversion and music practices and how they shape popular culture, community formation, political mobilization and identity self-fashioning in Modern South Asia. In my archival and field work, I would specifically be tracing the community formation of Dalit (Dom) Christians of South Odisha, their anti-castiest assertion and influence on anti majoritarian politics in the region.
Research Interests
Anthropology of religion, social history of caste, conversion, Dalit musical practices, popular culture and Ambedkarite mobilizations.
